~~~ TESTIMONIAL ~~~
After the birth of my daughter , I developed a condition known as fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome for which there was know known cure. It was a disabling, painful disease where traditional medicine had little if any effect to relieve the symptoms. This disease was affecting the very quality of my life and my families' life. My husband was very supportive, although I could see the stress and strain in his eyes. Diligently, I began my own search for alternative ways of healing, investigating every alternative therapy site I could find, including countless articles posted on the Internet to find a way to deal with this horrible disease. I studied hypnosis back when I was in college and had written several papers on the effectiveness of hypnosis. It was like a light went on when I discovered how to use my subconscious mind to unleash the healing powers of my own body. Were it not for hypnotherapy I would be unable to live the fulfilling life I'm blessed with today.
Deep within, I knew I had a calling to become Certified Hypnotherapist so I could help others through alternative therapy in combating illnesses of all kinds.  Through hypnosis  I have learned to control and eliminate 99 percent of the symptoms of Fybromyalgia." I am now a full time hypnotherapist and instructor of hypnotherapy.  I speak at fibromyalgia support groups to help others suffering from this horrible illness to learn to unleash the healing power of their own subconscious minds.
That Twelve Letter F Word
Fibromyalgia
"I still remember the desperation and agony I felt when suffering from fibromyalgia.  I now manage all my symptoms with hypnosis and fibromyalgia doesnt slow me down..."
Fibromyalgia (FMS) is a frustrating and little-understood illness.  It is called an illness rather than a disease because there is no specific diagnostic test that confirms or denies its existence. It is a collection of confusing symptoms which come and go and vary in intensity. Its chief characteristic is widespread pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons, stiffness, fatigue and non-restorative sleep. While it is not life-threatening, it can be as debilitating as rheumatoid arthritis. It is an illness that frustrates physicians as much as it does the patient.
FMS is a collection of symptoms without a known cause. It affects 5-10% of the population, affecting eight times more women than men and it strikes all ages. It is often found in the company of other related conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), spastic bladder (urge incontinence), headaches, myofacial pain (such as TMJ), mistral valve prolapse and chronic fatigue.
The classical diagnosis for FMS is pain in all four quadrants of the body that lasts longer than three months and 11 of 18 tender pressure points. Although the cause remains elusive, there are many common triggering events thought to precipitate the onset of the illness. These are an infection (viral or bacterial), an automobile accident or the development of another disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or hypothyroidism.
Traditional treatments aim at improving the quality of sleep and reducing pain. Recent research confirms that a multi disciplinary approach to treating FMS provides the greatest relief from symptoms and the best prognosis. This approach includes improving the quality of sleep, proper nutrition, physical conditioning, deep relaxation and positive mental imagery. No one modality has proven effective more than 40% of the time. However, by combining therapies, the patient can frequently return to a healthier state and a more active lifestyle.
