The Doctoral Program in Natural Holistic Therapies is for those health professionals wanting a comprehensive higher education in Natural Health and to be able to help themselves, their families, and the common person find true and lasting physical and spiritual health.
Completing the Doctoral Program requires all of the requirements of the Masters, plus the five courses listed below.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS & BOOK LIST
1. Independent Study in Natural Therapies: Students are free to explore those subjects not covered in the main program. Typical topics include Aromatherapy, Advanced Homeopathy, Magnetic Therapy, or specialized topics within the holistic health field. Students may also take independently offered seminars in related subjects and apply them towards credit in this course. 8 credits.
2. Advanced Natural Therapies: How to design personalized holistic protocols using nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, reflexology, acupressure, and cell salts in combination. How to integrate natural therapies with drug regimes for ailments. Text: Smart Medicine for Healthier Living by Zand, Spreen, and LaValle (Avery Publishing; NY). 8 credits.
3. Alternative Approaches to AIDS: Presentation of different theories as to the causes and treatments of immune dysfunction. A critical analysis of currently accepted thinking regarding AIDS causation and pharmacological treatments. Text: TBA*********************); What If Everything You Thought You Knew About AIDS was Wrong? by Christine Maggiore. 6 credits.
4. Lipid Biochemistry: The chemical structures of different fats: polyunsaturates, monounsaturates, and saturates; MCT’s; the benefits of saturated fats. Text: Know Your Fats by Mary Enig (Bethesda Press; MD). 6 credits.
5. Clinical Mentorship: To help students make the necessary and sometimes difficult transition from "book learning" to active practice, UHOT has developed the Clinical Mentorship Program. The Mentorship Program will provide students with access to an experienced health professional and will enable the students to get advice and assistance with difficult cases, as well as provide a valuable source of natural health information in the first months of active practice. The Clinical Mentorship Program is a requirement of the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs in Natural Holistic Therapies.
Each Clinical Mentorship Program lasts four months. During this time, you will have access to your Mentor by phone and e-mail for a maximum of 8 cases, including follow-up. General information questions may also be asked during the four-month period.
The Clinical Mentorship may be waived for students already with similar, verifiable experience, or if they fully intend NOT to enter clinical practice.

The Doctoral Program in Natural Holistic Therapies is available for a minimum donation of $3095 USD with a one-time shipping and handling charge of $95 (USA), or $105 (Canada & Mexico), or $125 (overseas).
Note: Students need to check with their local governments as to whether or not they can legally use the title "naturopath" or the initials "ND" after their name. If the student is in a state, province, or country where usage of these titles is not allowed due to restrictive licensing laws, the Academy will issue the student a Doctor of Natural Therapies degree. Students must also check with their local governments as to whether they can legally use the title of "nutritionist" or "nutritional consultant" as some states and provinces may have enacted restrictive laws prohibiting the use of these titles.
